Creativity … (well, sort of)
September 23, 2007
For this week’s tutorials on Creativity you’re asked to use the Dvolver MovieMaker to get your creative juices flowing and produce a little short film using Dvolver’s tools (albeit, rather limited tools at that). Here’s something I cooked up in about 45 seconds:
I’m sure you can all make something more interesting, so don’t forget to post your efforts either to the WebCT Discussion Board or as a comment here! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
Internet People!
September 7, 2007
In this week’s tutorials we’ve been talking about how celebrity and self are related, especially in terms of the way celebrity is a much more fluid and attainable idea. A lot of people have cited YouTube celebrities as examples of ‘celetoids’, but this little video makes that process even more visible as it playfully lists almost one hundred recent internet-facilitated ‘celebrity’ moments. How many can you recall?

Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us
August 7, 2007
Ever heard of “Web2.0″? If not, watch this…
Now, you’re probably wondering why we’d point to a YouTube video since it’s not in a iPod video (mp4) format! Well, those of you who’d like to carry around this, or any other YouTube video, just use Vixy.net. To use this free online service, just paste in the URL (web address) of any YouTube video, select convert to “mp4 for iPod/PSP”, and give the website a few minutes and it’ll turn any YouTube clip into an mp4 format movie which you can upload to and play from you iPod!
Digital Planet
August 7, 2007
One of the best radio programmes out there about technology and communication is the Digital Planet show produced by the BBC. Every week the show explores different technologies, but almost always with the focus on asking how these technologies improve interactions and communication between people!
To listen to the show, you can either click the Digital Planet link above and follow the “subscribe to podcast” prompts or paste this link – http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/worldservice/
digitalp/rss.xml - into your favourite podcast aggregator. (Since most of you are using iTunes, if in iTunes you click on the ‘Advanced’ menu, select ‘Subscribe to Podcast’ and past that link into the box that pops up, iTunes will do the rest of the work for you.)
If you’re not sure how to subscribe to a podcast, the BBC has details here for subscribing to their podcasts. If you’re not sure exactly what a podcast is (or how it differs from just an mp3 audio file) click here for an explanation.

If you have any suggestions about interesting links, please email them to Tama at tama.leaver@uwa.edu.au. Alternatively, you could just leave a comment on any of the blog posts already visible.
This blog will definitely be updated on Thursdays, and might be updated at other times as well. Make sure you bookmark this page and check bad for all the digital goodies!
